In addition to our weekly meetings, where in the main we  do marquetry, we have several other events taking place each
year.
There is an annual prize giving event at
which members work is judged in various categories as well as awarding the
Seaton Cup for the best piece of  work.

There are occasional lectures held at our  weekly meetings. Recent ones have included a wood turning demonstration and a  talk on Chippendale.

We always have a stand at the Great Yorkshire Show where the show organisers run a marquetry competition, open to anyone.

The Craft for Xmas show  takes place at the Yorkshire Show Ground as does the Northern Woodworking Show.  We use the opportunity at these shows to try to recruit students for our  beginners courses. The beginners courses, in addition to promoting the craft of  marquetry have for the last few years gained us several enthusiastic members of
the group

Of course there is a Xmas fuddle, held at our  usual premises, which has a  very well appointed bar area. Some of the members  get together to carry out  the catering. We also have a Summer Dinner which is  very popular. Recently  this has been at Sandmoor Golf  Club.

Each year we run two projects, one as a challenge for members to develop their skills, and another to generate some   small items for sale at the Crafts for Christmas Show.  This year is a little different as we  approach  the
60th Anniversary of the Club, and we hope to have a special  display for our  2013 Shows, and a celebration 2013 Calendar with pictures of  members’ marquetry  for each month available at Crafts for Christmas  2012.
